Typical scenario

Information about emotional state concerns different periods

If distress described after one event is combined with information about a later conflict, the time limits of a psychological conclusion may disappear. Suppose the materials contain the participant's account, messages and documents from different periods.

What needs to be clarified

Separate relevant information about state and circumstances without inferring an event's consequences from record sequence alone.

Materials to prepare

  • The questions and the period requiring examination.
  • Relevant documents and correspondence preserved in context.
  • Results of agreed interviews and methods, if already available.

What to compare

  • Compare event dates, record creation and the state described.
  • Separate the participant's statements from examination findings.
  • Check consideration of other circumstances and information gaps.

Possible outcome of the analysis

An opinion may describe psychologically relevant circumstances, the grounds for conclusions and questions lacking sufficient information.

Limits of the conclusions

Psychological examination is not psychiatric diagnosis, does not prescribe treatment and determines neither legal compensation nor fault.

Psychological examination: court, family, children, non-pecuniary harm and report reviews
